Haven't used it very much but it seems to work well and is very good for positioning the camera.

 "Total Overpriced Rip-Off!" 2009-11-12

All of the Flip accessories are rip-offs price wise, but this is by far the most egregious. Tripods like this without the Flip logo can be found at camera stores for under $5, online for around a dollar and often with free shipping (I got mine for $.50 when a major nationwide computer retailer chain went under 2 years ago). Flip's $20 HDMI cables are $2 online from a very reputable retailer I won't mention for fear of violating Amazon's posting rules. I suspect they set their margins on the camcorder low in hopes of making up with obscene profits on the accessories. This kind of profiteering is just shameful, particularly in these economic times.

Cheap and probably does the job, but it's not much use to me for how I use the Flip video recorder (houses).

Having thrown away a Digipower DP-TP100 Light Weight Compact Mini Tripod because of complete dissatisfaction with the product I was still in need of several small tripods. I ran through the product description of this Flip tripod and was immediately interested. I ordered one to determine if my needs would be fulfilled and my expectations met and now I have three of them!

Extremely well built, very small and very sturdy in use. I have only the most positive things to say about this and would easily and quickly recommend it to anyone in need of a mini tripod.

"I tried some cheaper ones that didn't work as well with the weight of the flip...this did the job." 2009-11-05

I have the HD ultra flip. Before I ordered this on Amazon I was fortunate to get to play with various tripods at a store display and talk to a sales person who showed me that, while some of the cheaper ones were just fine in a pinch or if you wish to save some cash, this model required less "work" in getting the flip to be positioned correctly for shooting. Some of the others required a bit more adjustment to get it to hold the weight of the flip correctly and be stable.

That said, if you are pinching pennies...you can search for cheaper tripods on Amazon that can work fine...they just require a bit more adjusting and fiddling with the legs.

If you ever plan to be in a shot at a family gathering, during a spontaneous funny scene, to document the mutual admiration between your dog and you, or your kids and you, or your spouse and you...let's face facts, you need a tripod so you can walk away from the camcorder and be in the scene. And the legs allow you to get your camera ready to go just about anywhere, even if you need to do some tripod leg bends.

It's made for the Flip so it works great with it, in my opinion...even after I played with a few others to convince myself prior to ordering.
